Ardmore Preparing For Holiday Events, Shopping

ARDMORE, PA — Ardmore is getting ready to fully embrace the holiday spirit with a month’s worth of festive events and offerings.

Downtown Ardmore will kick off its holiday season with a tree lighting event and a visit from Santa Claus at 5 p.m. on Nov. 27, Black Friday.

However, this year’s tree lighting, like many annual events, will be held virtually.

The Ardmore Initiative, Ardmore Business Association and sponsor PECO will live stream Santa’s arrival and the lighting of the Christmas Tree with special guest Cinderella.

The 30-minute program will feature a surprise entrance for Santa, songs by Cinderella, and remarks by local dignitaries.

Residents can watch the Facebook Live event from on the Destination Ardmore and Ardmore Business Association Facebook pages. A recorded video will also be available later on both.

The tree will be starting on Small Business Saturday and through Christmas for those that want to view it and take in-person photos.

As for Small Business Saturday, that kicks off the Holiday Rally for Ardmore Restaurants and Retail, which runs through Wednesday, Dec. 23.

Residents are encouraged support dozens of small local businesses.

Every shopper that spends $25 at participating businesses will be entered to win prizes valued up to $1,000 in total, including a $100 gift card winner every week in December.

The promotion is simple: shop for your holiday gifts, dine, and order takeout from a small business in the Ardmore Business District during the month of December, snap a photo of your receipt and email it to [email protected].

At the end of the Rally, one grand prize winner will be selected to win a bundle of gift cards from Ardmore businesses, valued at $600 sponsored by the Ardmore Initiative. The winner will be announced by Friday, Jan. 8, 2021.

“The Rally for Ardmore is a popular promotion that benefited over 50 businesses and generated over $10,000 for the Ardmore small business community during the COVID lockdown in April,” said Ardmore Initiative Executive Director Nancy Scarlato. “We are ready to shatter that record in December!”

Christmas on Cringle will be held Sunday, Dec. 13 from 9:30 a.m. to noon on Cricket Avenue between Lancaster Avenue and Cricket Terrace.

Families will be able to welcome Santa, The Grinch, and Elf on the Shelf and enjoy holiday tunes with Roots with Ruark, ornament making, hot chocolate & cookies and a special story time.
