Rockland County is accepting new unwrapped toys, gifts and clothing starting today as its 4th annual toy and clothing drive gets underway for foster children and children served by the Department of Social Services.
The idea is for every child to have a holiday gift to open, according to a statement from the county executive’s office. Toys and other gifts are sought for infants through age 18.
The drive runs through Dec.18.

“For our kids in foster care and currently receiving our services, this year has been challenging to say the least and your donation of a toy or clothing can make all the difference in improving the lives of those children,” said Joan Silvestri, the county social services commissioner, in a statement.
County Executive Ed Day said it’s been a difficult year for all, “but we still have so much to be thankful for as we enter the holiday season. Please consider donating to our fourth annual toy and clothing drive and help us help those children who need some warmth and a smile this holiday season. Thank you in advance for your generosity and support.”
