I had no idea 10 years ago that we’d all become so attached to our cellphones. But most of us surely are, and this week I’m featuring some phones and accessories that would make great Christmas presents.
I limited this year’s phone recommendations to midpriced models. Anyone can recommend a $1,500 phone, but realistically, more people will buy the ones that cost under $750.
Plus, we can all use another charger or charging cable. I even included a cell booster in case you can’t get a consistent cell signal inside your house.
What is it? You may not have heard of OnePlus, but the company makes really good Android phones.
The 8T is a midpriced phone with some very nice high-end features like ultra-fast charging and a 6.55-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate for very smooth scrolling.
The 8T also has 5G and a 48-megapixel quad camera and a massive 4,500-milliamp-hour battery. It also has 8 gigabytes of RAM and 128 GB of storage.
Who is it for? Android users who are not ready to spend $1,000-plus on a new phone.
What does it cost? $749

What is it? When you are tired of running out of juice on your phone or tablet or laptop, the Zendure SuperTank is the external battery that can charge everything really fast. It can output 100 watts to fast-charge your MacBook Pro or provide 60 watts each to two laptops at once.
It has a 27,000-mAh capacity, which is just under the limit for carrying on a commercial flight. This battery can charge your phone 7 to 10 times before it needs recharging, and it’s small enough to fit in any bag. It has two USB-A ports and two USB-C ports with power delivery.
You can also check out the next-generation SuperTank Pro, ($248) which is available for preorder at supertankpro.zendure.com, but it won’t ship in time for Christmas.
Who is it for? Anyone who needs to charge devices when they are away from plugs.

Aukey Omnia 100W 2-port PD charger
What is it? This is a wall charger that’s likely faster than any charger you have in your bag right now. The Aukey Omnia uses GaN technology to supercharge your gadgets as fast as possible. This is also a smaller charger than the one that shipped with your laptop and it will provide a full 100 watts of power. It can fast-charge a 16-inch MacBook Pro in just 1.8 hours. This charger is USB-C only, but you can get USB-C cables to charge almost any device.
Who is it for? Anyone with gadgets to charge. Smaller and faster is always better.

WeBoost Home Cell Signal Booster
What is it? Does your cellphone lose its signal inside your home? You’re a prime candidate for a home signal booster. This is a hardware solution with an outdoor antenna that brings the signal into an indoor antenna in your house. This kit is good for a multiroom setup. WeBoost says it can cover up to three large rooms or 5,000 square feet. It works on all cell signals from any carrier, including 5G signals.
Who is it for? If you rely on your cellphone, but the signal is iffy inside your home.

What is it? This is Apple’s cheapest iPhone, and the one I end up recommending most often. In fact, it’s the phone my mom bought earlier this year. It is an old-school iPhone with a home button/Touch ID sensor on the front. It looks like an iPhone 8, but it has the internals from the iPhone 11. It isn’t the fastest or biggest, but for the vast majority of iPhone users, it is just right.
You can spend $1,000 or more on the latest iPhone 12 Pro, but do you really need all those features?
Who is it for? Budget-minded iPhone users.
What does it cost? $399
Where can I get it? Apple.com, Best Buy, your phone carrier.
